Topa Topa Brewery – Ventura, California
November 2023
Traveling holds immense importance as it provides individuals with the opportunity to broaden their horizons and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. From behind a camera’s shutter, I’ve witnessed the magnificence of Earth’s landscapes – from sunrise in Maldives, overlooking the Indian Ocean to sunset across Lake Geneva at Château de Chillon in Switzerland.
In reflection, this has influenced me toward understanding the importance of a more open-minded and globally aware society.
In “A Traveler’s Notebook” at Topa Topa Brewery, my vision is that the show serves as a source of inspiration and motivation for viewers, fostering a sense of fulfillment and a broader perspective on one’s own life. In this, I hope to showcase the beauty of the external landscapes of Earth’s contentions – and also provide a pathway of reflection.
This was a whirlwind of an exhibit. I literally got back to Los Angeles from Switzerland on a Sunday and had everything printed, framed and hung, 48 hours later on that Tuesday.
To say it was an intense experience, is an understatement. But I valued the incredible focus and commitment to excellence in my work and vision. I saw the goal and barely slept until I reached it.
I had such a great time meeting new people and going to the Print Exchanges at Topa Topa in October and November. Many thanks to Trent, curator for the artist showcases at Topa Topa, who asked me if I could show my work in November.
Topa Topa Brewery hosted a wedding reception during the course of my showing. I received wonderful feedback that my photos received high praise and was told my work was the perfect compliment to the event. That made me smile.
Plus, few things are as fulfilling as displaying work, telling your story and having someone contact you to purchase a piece. That feeling, of your art finding an audience and creating an emotional connection with someone else – will never, ever get old.
